The Arts Council is seeking to spread the word about the LDOA’s Individual Artist Relief Grants, which we are co-administering. These grants aim to provide direct support to individual artists impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic or other natural disasters that affected our state in 2020. The applications are open to artists in all disciplines, including but not limited to visual, music, dance, performance, literary and indigenous/cultural practices, who are Louisiana residents and who are 18 years of age or older.
It is a very simple application in which artists will be asked to demonstrate their artistic practice with a professional website/social media, resume or CV, and/or examples of their work and to describe the financial impact the pandemic/natural disasters had on them and their practice. They will also be asked a few demographic questions. If selected, artists will need to provide identification, proof of residency, and a W-9.
Grants will be up to $1,500 – though in our region (Orleans, Jefferson, and Plaquemines) they will most likely be $1,000.
Funds are limited and we will most likely not be able to fund every eligible application, but we want to make sure artists – particularly those from historically marginalized groups – are aware of this opportunity.
Applications opened today, Monday, March 29th, and will close on Friday, April 16th at midnight.
Could you please help us share this opportunity with artists you know who could really use this support? We would greatly appreciate it! You can forward them this email, share the guidelines (attached) or direct them to our website: http://www.artsneworleans.org/grants/
