CALDER QUARTET
Wednesday, October 26, 2016
Dixon Hall, 8:00 PM

The Calder Quartet, formed at USC’s Thornton School of Music, takes its name from the innovative American artist, Alexander Calder. The Quartet performs a broad range of repertoire, from Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, to music by leading contemporary composers, as well as works commissioned by the Quartet. Recent performances include New York’s Mostly Mozart Festival, the Metropolitan Museum, Wigmore Hall, and the Edinburgh International Festival. The Calder regularly conducts master classes at the Juilliard School, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the University of Cincinnati, and the Thornton School of Music. In 2014 the group won the Avery Fisher Career Grant. (Photo: AUTUMN DE WILDE)

“The Calder’s passionate engagement with the music was notable; so was their pinpoint control and near-flawless execution.”
