Songs of the Earth

Musaica performs works inspired by the folk and indigenous music from different parts of the world. Along with the String Sextet in A major by Dvorak and works by Bartok and Villa Lobos will be two world premieres! These will include a trio from past “Tribute the the Classical Arts” nominee Mollie O’Meara for harp, oboe, and flute inspired by Irish folk melodies; and a string quartet on Vietnamese folk music by Dylan Tran, this year’s participant in Musaica’s composition workshop.

• LPO: Peter & the Wolf

Prokofiev’s classic children’s tale of boy versus wolf comes to life as the LPO portrays each character with different instruments – flutes flutter like a bird, clarinets stalk like a cat, and horns glare like a big hungry wolf! Arrive at 1:45 p.m. before to concert, for opportunities to interact with LPO musicians and their instruments.
