Musaica presents “A Musaica Reunion”

Musaica Chamber Ensemble concludes its 15th Season, “Reconnecting,” with “A Musical Reunion.” Included will be a trio arrangement for bass, harp, and trombone of Ellis Marsalis’s “Fourth Autumn,”; “Portraits of Langston” by Valerie Coleman, for flute, clarinet, and piano, inspired by the jazz poetry of Langston Hughes; a world premiere by our Composition Workshop participant, William Montgomery, a sextet for flute, oboe, violin, viola, cello, and harp, which musically describes our reemergence into and reunion with the city; and the beautiful and poignant Quintet for clarinet and strings by Johannes Brahms. This will be dedicated to all the essential workers who have tirelessly seen us through to the other side of this pandemic.
We are allowing for a small audience at each of these performances, but the UNO concert will be live streamed as well from UNO’s School of the Arts Facebook page. This concert is sponsored by a generous grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation!

Including Dmitri Shostakovich’s Viola Sonata, Paul Hindemith’s Seventh String Quartet, and Alberto Ginastera’s  Impresiones de la Puna for flute and string quartet. You will be able to stream this concert via UNO’s School of the Arts Facebook page.
